Our take

A fragrance that puts leather right at the center of a fruity floral composition is bound to feel like a gamble, and Cuir Élysées does not entirely escape that risk. The raspberry top note is bright and immediately appealing, yet it fades too quickly into a heart that feels oddly thin. Petalia and jasmine are pleasant, but together they lack the weight to bridge the gap between the opening and the leather base. That transition is where the perfume feels most uncertain, as if the scent cannot decide whether it wants to be a fresh berry fragrance or a proper leather study.

The leather itself is not heavy or animalic in a challenging way. It is smooth, tempered by sandalwood that rounds off the sharper edges. Still, the overall balance leans too much on the fruity side up front and then shifts abruptly, rather than unfolding gradually. It works best in a setting where the air is warm but not stifling, surrounded by stone buildings that hold the day’s heat and streets that smell faintly of dust and dry leaves. In that kind of atmosphere, the raspberry feels at home, and the leather gains a subtle, lived-in charm.

Cuir Élysées is easy to like in the first few minutes, then harder to stay excited about once the mid notes settle. The sandalwood keeps it from turning abrasive, but the fragrance never quite coheres into something that feels intentional. For a scent that wants to balance fruit, flower, and skin, it spends too much time feeling caught between its better ideas.
