Our take

A low tin table sits under a bright canopy of leaves, the hot air vibrating with the sound of bees working a row of flowering hedges. Two glasses of iced tea sweat onto the metal surface, each one clouded with crushed mint and floating bits of green and black tea leaves. Someone has set a small bowl of osmanthus blossoms next to the glasses, their pale orange petals picking up the heat. The air carries the damp, leafy scent of the tea mixed with the sharp coolness of the mint and the soft, peach-like sweetness of the osmanthus. It is a very specific kind of freshness, green and aromatic but with a rounded, fruity floral softness that prevents it from feeling sharp or medicinal. You can smell the steam rising off the hot tea that was poured over the ice, the damp earth of the garden, and the clean, herbal edge of the mint leaves being bruised by the heat. The scene feels suspended in a long, quiet breath of humid air, the kind of moment where the light filters through the leaves in distinct patches and the only thing moving is the condensation slowly sliding down the side of the glass, leaving a dark trail on the metal table.
