Chouette Vierge No. 5
Fragrance notes
Character
Chouette Vierge No. 5 opens with a sharp clash that some will find jarring. The pink pepper and mint hit at once, and the lavender struggles to smooth the edges. It feels restless in the first minutes, as if the ingredients are competing rather than blending.
The heart settles into a dense tea accord. Lapsang souchong brings a dry smoke that sits beside the almond and vanilla. Orris adds a powdery weight, while jasmine and osmanthus offer a soft floral lift. Leather appears here too, giving the center a rugged texture that contrasts with the rice and mate in the base. Cashmeran and tonka bean push the profile toward amber and wood.
The orris and leather combination creates a dusty dryness that can read as flat. The sweetness from vanilla and tonka does not fully round out the sharper spices. For those who prefer a seamless transition between notes, this composition stays a little rough around the edges.
