Mango Skin earns its name from the top note alone: mango and blackberry open thick and tropical, closer to the fruit's actual green-tinged skin than to mango candy, and black pepper cuts through the sweetness with a sharp, almost bitter snap before it has a chance to turn syrupy. It is one of the more convincing mango notes around, waxy and a touch sour underneath the sweetness. Longevity is moderate, unhurried and gradual, the kind of fade you barely notice happening.
Orris, jasmine and lotus form a soft, powdery heart, understated next to all that fruit up top, and by the base, vanilla, icing pink and patchouli settle into something warmer and slightly earthy, with patchouli adding a dusty, woody undertone beneath it. Icing pink is the odd one out, a synthetic, almost cosmetic sweetness layered under the more natural fruit and wood.
It is a strictly warm-weather scent, spring into summer, worn during the day when the tropical fruit reads brightest. Sillage stays modest, a fruity halo that suits close company rather than a crowd, the kind of scent shared armrests are made for.
