It’s an Italian fougere from 1955, and Lino Vidal knew exactly what he was doing: the heart swells with pine needles and clary sage, a green, almost resinous bite softened by carnation and a whisper of caraway. As it dries down, cedar and oakmoss ground the composition, with amber and tonka bean adding a gentle warmth that keeps it from feeling too austere.
This fragrance is a faded photograph of a man in a linen shirt standing at the edge of a pine forest after a spring downpour. The air is clean, the earth damp, the trees dripping with scent and memory.
