Opulent Shaik Classic No 77
Fragrance notes
Character
Opulent Classic No 77 opens like a barber’s hands meeting a spice merchant’s stall. Lavender and basil cut through a fizzy lemon bergamot, crisp and aromatic, before the heart turns unexpectedly sweet. Cinnamon and clove wrap around a tart apple note that reads more polished fruit than farmstand, and geranium adds a faint rosy hum to keep things from tipping into potpourri. The base is where Shaik’s budget shows its seams: vanilla and labdanum sit heavy, musk feels slightly synthetic, and the oakmoss and patchouli are more dust than dirt, but the cedar gives it a clean spine. This is not a gourmand or a brute: it’s a weekend cardigan in a leather armchair, the kind of scent a man wears when he wants to smell intentional without shouting. Longevity clocks around four hours on skin, and sillage stays polite: you get close, you get the joke, but the room doesn’t. It leans spring and fall, daytime or evening, and suits the guy who likes sharp edges softened by a little warmth, someone who appreciated Drakkar Noir’s structure but wants something sweeter, more rounded. Skip it if you demand raw naturals or nuclear projection. But for under thirty euros, this is a clever, wearable Oriental that feels like a familiar riff played in a minor key, confident in its modesty.
