Our take

You get hit with a dark, dusty cloud of incense and saffron, a bracing pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon, and then the coffee note arrives bitter and raw, like grounds spilled across a cold counter. It is an opening that promises leather and oud, but the development pulls a sleight of hand. The heart turns unexpectedly plush: plum and praline sweeten the rigid birch, jasmine sambac adds a lurid floral gloss, and the leather is more suede than saddle. The base settles into a familiar amber-vanilla cradle, with soft sandalwood and cedar, while the agarwood stays shy, a faint shadow rather than a roaring fire.

The overall character is that of a leather armchair pulled close to a dying fireplace, someone having left a half-eaten chocolate truffle on the armrest. It is noticeably synthetic but not cheap, leaning into a designer-friendly interpretation of oud that has been tamed and sweetened. The longevity and sillage are modest, a touch below average, so this is not a fragrance that announces itself across a room.

It suits a man who wants a warm, slightly decadent scent for crisp autumn evenings or winter nights, especially for dates or quiet dinners. Skip it if you crave real animalic oud, authentic barnyard complexity, or beast mode performance. This is a comfortable, approachable oriental, pleasant but never subversive.
