Our take

The first spray of Graphite is a sharp, fizzy burst of aldehydes that feels like cold air hitting a hot mirror. It is bright and soapy, scrubbing the palate clean before the fragrance settles into its true rhythm. That sparkling opening is brief, serving only to clear the way for the heavier elements waiting beneath.

Once the sugar cane appears, the scent takes a turn toward the unconventional. It does not smell like a tropical drink. Instead, the sweetness is dry and crystalline, merging with a smoky, animalic leather that feels worn and slightly dirty. The vanilla accord wraps around the hide, creating a texture that is rough yet oddly creamy. It smells like an old workshop where something sweet was spilled on a leather apron long ago. The aldehydes linger in the background, keeping the heavy base notes from feeling too suffocating.

This is a challenging wear for anyone expecting a clean, modern leather. The animalic facet is prominent and unapologetic, sitting close to the skin in a way that can feel aggressive to those who prefer soft florals. While the sugar cane tries to soften the edges, the composition never fully escapes its gritty, industrial nature. It is a specific mood rather than a crowd-pleaser, and the soapy freshness sometimes clashes awkwardly with the deep, tar-like base.
