Ho Hang Club
Fragrance notes
Character
Ho Hang Club opens with a brisk snap of artemisia and coriander, a green, almost medicinal bite that quickly softens into basil and lemon. This is not a polite citrus, but a bitter, herbaceous start that sets a serious tone. The heart is where the fragrance reveals its complexity — a dense, powdered bouquet of rose, carnation, and orris root, tangled with juniper berries and thyme. It smells like a leather armchair in a library where someone has just crushed a handful of fresh herbs into a glass of amber liquid. The dry down settles into oakmoss, smoky styrax, and a whisper of leather, all wrapped in a warm, slightly dusty patchouli blanket.
This is a woody chypre that leans heavily into aromatic and earthy territory, with a noticeable rose backbone that keeps it from feeling too rough. The sillage is modest, sitting close to the skin after an hour, but the longevity is decent — about six hours before fading to a mossy skin scent. It feels natural and composed, like a well-worn tweed jacket, but not especially innovative or loud.
Best suited for cooler months — fall and winter are ideal — and for daytime wear, though it works for evenings too. Skip it if you want projection or sweetness; this is a quiet, introspective scent for someone who appreciates old school green chypres and doesn’t need to be noticed from across the room. A gentleman’s club in a bottle, but one where the members read poetry and tend the garden. 🌿
