Naxos begins with a sharp bite that may catch some off guard. The black pepper and pink pepper hit first, bright and tingling against the skin, while cardamom adds a cool, herbal edge. It is a spicy opening that demands attention, and for those who prefer soft, powdery entrances, this initial intensity might feel a bit too brisk.
The scene is a dimly lit library in an old stone house. You are sitting in a leather chair, the air slightly cool. As the heart notes emerge, sandalwood and vetiver ground the room, mixing with the lingering spice to create a dense, woody atmosphere. The base soon follows, bringing ambergris and vanilla, smoothed out by tonka bean and a deep oud. The vanilla here is not sugary, it is rich and resinous, blending into the animalic and musky accords that wrap around the space.
You reach for a book on the high shelf, and the scent shifts with your movement, the balsamic and earthy tones rising from the wrist. The warmth of the spices mixes with the cold air coming through the window, creating a contrast that keeps the fragrance from settling too flatly, the oud leaving a dark, dry trail across the wooden floorboards as you pull the volume down
