The Opening
Fragrance notes
Character
A small room fills with woodsmoke as a fire settles into glowing embers. Someone has just sliced into a dark berry tart, the juice of blackberry and raspberry hitting the air with a tart, fleeting brightness. Coriander adds a green, crushed-leaf edge to the fruit, but that freshness is already giving way. Cinnamon and cloves warm the space, their dry heat mingling with a drizzle of honey that smells of the comb rather than the jar. Guaiac wood begins to rise from the floorboards, grounding the spices with a dry, resinous weight that feels carved rather than poured.
The air turns dense as the evening deepens. Opoponax and myrrh weave through the smoke of burning incense, creating a resinous haze that clings to the heavy wool of a sweater. Oakmoss brings a damp, earthy shadow that keeps the sweetness from becoming a simple sugar. It is a scent for the person standing closest to the hearth, watching the flames dance while the cold presses against the window glass. Wear it when the air requires something substantial to cut through the chill, and when a heavy, balsamic warmth is the only appropriate companion for a quiet night indoors.
