Desire Blue opens with a flash of translucent fruit, litchi and mandarin orange glossed over by the watery veil of lotus and bergamot. It feels like a splash of flavored seltzer on a sweaty neck, bright and synthetic in the best designer way. Within minutes, the heart arrives with sea notes and a washed-out orange that reads more like a memory of citrus than the real thing, while Brazilian rosewood adds a faint, soapy warmth. The drydown settles into a soft amber and tonka base sweetened with benzoin and a clean musk, but by then the whole thing has thinned to a whisper.
This fragrance is a crisp linen shirt wrinkled by noon, serviceable but unspecial. It earns its middling 3.95 rating and the brutal longevity and sillage scores, 2.98 and 2.81 respectively, are not exaggerations. You get an hour of noticeable presence, then a skin scent that fades within three. For a summer citrus aquatic, that is par for the cheap thrill course.
Wear Desire Blue on a blazing Sunday afternoon at the farmer`s market or under a short-sleeved button down at the office. It suits the guy who wants a polite, uncomplicated scent and does not mind respraying. Skip it if you crave substance, darkness, or any kind of staying power. This is a happy hour drink, not a vintage Bordeaux.
