Vanilla Orchid and jasmine open Vanilla 28 with a soft, floral sweetness before brown sugar and tonka bean push the whole thing toward something closer to caramelized dessert. Amber, amberwood, musk and patchouli hold the base down, giving what might have been a plain vanilla a genuine woody backbone. The jasmine in the opening is a nice touch, keeping the first impression floral rather than purely gourmand before the sugar takes hold.
The patchouli is doing more work here than the name suggests, giving the vanilla a dry, slightly bitter edge under all that brown sugar. Longevity wears at an easy, mid-range pace, and what projects stays warm and cozy, staying mostly within the wearer's own space. The musk in the base rounds everything out, softening the patchouli's edge without erasing it.
This is a good choice for anyone who wants a vanilla fragrance with some backbone, best worn on quiet evenings in or low-key gatherings where a warm, sweet scent feels welcoming. Straight vanilla purists may find the patchouli and woody base an unexpected turn, though it gives this version a less sugary character than plain dessert vanillas.
