Our take

Picture a cigar box lined with dried fruit and left shut for a year, and you have the general shape of Tobacco Vanille before it even opens fully. Tobacco leaf and spicy notes lead, cacao and tonka bean thicken the heart, and dried fruit lingers underneath the whole thing like an afterthought that refuses to leave the glass. Staying power runs long-lasting, and the sillage leaves a trail, enough that a single spray does real work through a cold evening.

Vanilla is present throughout but never dominates the way it does in sweeter orientals, tobacco giving the sugar a dry, leafy bitterness to lean against. Tobacco blossom adds a faint, sweet undercurrent buried deep in the heart, easy to miss on first wear. It suits cold weather almost exclusively, fall and winter, worn in the evening more than the morning.

Woody notes round out the base with a quiet, resinous weight that lingers after everything else has faded back. It belongs in a study lined with books, not a subway car, and it smells expensive without ever shouting about the fact.
