Character
Lavender and clary sage open dry and herbal, almost austere in their sharpness, before bitter almond and leather start pulling the fragrance toward something darker. The word bitter matters here: this almond note has none of the marzipan sweetness almond usually brings, more a raw, slightly green edge instead.
Leather repeats in both heart and base, and by the time tonka bean, cashmeran and white woods settle in, it has become the dominant character of the whole fragrance, animalic and a little rough around the vanilla's softness. Orris adds a cool, powdery lift that softens the leather's harder edges.
Amber warms the drydown considerably, giving the finish a faint glow the dry opening never hints at, and what started dry and herbal ends up rich and skin-warm by the finish. It holds firm on skin over a good stretch, and the sillage stays modest, noticeable mainly if someone leans in close enough to catch it. Night and the colder seasons are clearly where it belongs, and it feels wrong worn under bright summer light. Vanilla and leather keep trading dominance in the base, neither one ever fully winning out.
