Tarantella
Fragrance notes
Character
The sun falls across a garden path where the air still carries a cool bite. Tarantella begins with a sharp snap of galbanum and mandarin orange, brightened by aldehydes that give the air a crisp, slightly metallic sheen. Neroli adds a clean floral lift that feels like the first deep breath taken outdoors after a long morning inside.
The heart of the fragrance moves into a dense, layered thicket. Bay leaf and cloves bring a warm, spicy edge to the jasmine and rose, while honey smooths the edges without making the air sticky. Frangipani and lily-of-the-valley add a soft, dewy weight, and the orris root pulls the entire floral arrangement toward something grounded and powdery.
As the scent settles, the base takes over with a heavy, forest-floor presence. Oakmoss and patchouli create a deep green earthiness, while leather introduces a dry, textured roughness. Sandalwood and amber provide a golden, balsamic warmth that wraps around the musk, turning the garden path into a shadowed, wooded walk where the air feels rich and ancient.
The composition is complex and deeply rooted in its chypre structure, but the honey and amber can feel slightly heavy against the sharper green notes. The weight of the base sometimes overwhelms the delicate frangipani and lily-of-the-valley, leaving the lighter flowers struggling to emerge clearly in the dense, earthy air.
