Vanille Caviar opens with a tart, almost boozy burst of cassis, sharpened by the green, slightly aquatic edge of calamus. That fruity brightness quickly folds into a lush heart where osmanthus offers its apricot-like floral softness, tangled with a velvety cacao powder and the first whisper of vanilla. As it settles, the base becomes a warm, resinous embrace: labdanum adds a leathery amber glow, Peru balsam deepens the sweetness with a honeyed woodiness, and the vanilla swells into a creamy, almost custard-like richness. The whole composition feels like a piece of dark chocolate left to melt on a sun-warmed stone, glossy and slightly sticky, but never cloying.
This is a moderately sweet, gourmand-amber that leans more intimate than loud, which matches its modest sillage and average longevity. It’s a touch shy for something so decadent, fading closer to skin after a few hours, but the smooth, natural-feeling blend of fruity floral and warm balsam makes it worth reapplying.
