Black tea and fig open Gris Charnel Extrait on a quiet, slightly bitter note, with cardamom adding a warm spice underneath rather than any real sweetness at this stage. Iris moves in through the heart, powdery and cool, backed by bourbon vetiver and cistus incanus for an earthy, slightly resinous depth that gives the iris real weight. By the base, sandalwood, vanilla and tonka bean bring real warmth, with patchouli leaf and cedar keeping the wood present all the way through to the end.
This settles in for good once it is on skin, keeping its warmth intact long after that early bitterness has quieted down. Sillage stays modest, a warm, powdery cloud that settles around you and reaches only the person standing nearest.
