The mandarin orange hits first, not the bright, juiced variety but something almost dried, rubbed with nutmeg and cinnamon until it glows. Olivier Cresp gives us a woody spicy silhouette that feels like a cashmere throw tossed over a citrus grove at dusk. The opening is brisk and alive, but within minutes the amber and cashmere wood rise up like warm stone, pulling the whole thing into a deeper, creamier register. It’s not loud (sillage sits just under four, which is polite rather than commanding) and longevity barely scratches three and a half hours before it becomes a faint ghost on skin. That modesty is the fragrance’s quiet strength, it wears you, not the other way around.
