Our take

Fusion d’Issey opens with a surprisingly plush fig-coconut milk accord that feels less like beachside indulgence and more like a chilled glass of something creamy and green. The lemon cuts through without screeching, giving the top a bright start before the heart of sandalwood, rosemary, and cardamom drags this into a woody aromatic stew that’s clearly Nathalie Lorson playing with texture. The drydown is all ambroxan and patchouli, that familiar Iso E Super-ish haze, but it’s notably airy and lightweight, which is both a blessing and a curse.

This is a fragrance that wants to be a tropical fougère but ends up as a sun-bleached piece of driftwood, smoothed by salt and barely leaving a mark on the sand. With longevity barely cracking 2.96 and sillage hugging the skin at 2.59, it evaporates before it has time to argue with anyone. It feels distinctly mainstream and mildly synthetic, like a designer’s polite nod to niche textures without the bite. Perfect for a spring morning when you want something green but not sharp, or a summer day when heat would crush heavier scents. Suits someone who values comfort over projection, who doesn’t need to announce themselves from across the table. Skip it if you crave performance or if coconut notes tend to turn plasticky on your skin, because here they flirt with that edge. A pleasant, forgettable island breeze in a bottle. 🌴
