Our take

Solis opens with a brisk slap of artemisia, all green and herbal, like crushed stems brushed from a morning hike. That bitter freshness quickly softens into a warm ambered benzoin, sticky and sweet, while the oud hovers just beneath, not as a smoky blast but as a clean, almost medicinal wood. The vanilla and cedar swell in the middle, turning powdery and a little fuzzy, before the vetiver drags everything back to earth, dry and rooty. The overall effect is that of a sunlit apothecary cabinet: polished dark wood, rows of amber bottles, a faint dusting of vanilla powder on the counter. It has a polished, niche sheen, certainly, but the proportions are off. The longevity is solid at nearly four hours, the sillage a modest arm’s-length halo, which makes its warm spicy profile feel more like a lingering whisper than a statement. It suits someone who wants an oud-amber hybrid that doesn’t shout, perhaps a quiet dinner in early autumn when the air turns cool but the sun still holds. Skip it if you crave animalic barnyard oud or a booming projection, because this one stays close, polite, and a little too safe. It works beautifully for fall and winter evenings, less so in high heat when the powdery vanilla can turn a bit cloying.
