Our take

It opens with a blunt slap of cedar and agarwood, raw and splintery, as if someone just cracked open a crate of antique temple carvings. Then the mid notes twist the knife. Caramel, sticky and black, is dragged through castoreum’s barnyard and civet’s sour heat, with Gurjan balsam adding a medicinal, almost mentholated ache. It is not polite. The dry down is where Kemi finally exhales, letting vanilla and sandalwood smooth over the wreckage, but the woody base still feels like smoked scaffolding. The overall image is a leather club chair in a burned-out library, the pages still smoldering.

This is a heavy, animalic beast, leaning synthetic in its caramel-candy edge and fiercely niche. The longevity is respectable at nearly 4 out of 5, but the sillage stays close to the skin, which is a quiet mercy. It suits someone who enjoys being a little feral, who wants to smell like they wrestled a beaver for a toffee. Skip it if you prefer fresh scents or anything that whispers. Wear it in fall or winter, preferably at night, when the cold air can temper its heat. But be warned: the caramel and vanilla flirt with cloying, and the opening can feel like an argument you did not start. Is this a fragrance to love or to survive? Either way, it leaves a mark.
