Les Delices de Nina
Fragrance notes
Character
You get a bright, spritzy burst of lemon and mandarin, the kind that feels like squeezing a citrus wedge over a sugar-dusted pastry. That opening is genuinely cheerful, but it’s a flash in the pan. Within minutes, the strawberry takes over, massive and jammy, backed by a slick of caramel and a whisper of green apple. Jasmine tries to add a floral lift, but it’s quickly smothered by the gourmand pile-on. The drydown settles into a familiar vanilla-praline-raspberry musk, soft and powdery, like the last crumbs of a strawberry shortcake left on a plate.
This is a fragrance that paints a very specific picture: a cotton candy machine spinning at a spring fair, pink and sweet and impossibly optimistic, but the machine keeps jamming. The longevity clocks in at a modest 3.02, and the sillage is even lighter at 2.92, which means you’ll be reapplying if you want anyone to notice. It feels thoroughly mainstream and synthetic in the best way, like a well-executed drugstore body spray that accidentally got a designer budget. Who should wear it? The person who wants to smell like a fruit tart for a few hours on a sunny afternoon, no more, no less. Skip it if you crave projection or depth. This is strictly a spring or summer daytime affair, and it suits a picnic, a coffee run, or a casual brunch where being forgettable is actually the point. Does it deliver on the promise of its name, “delights of Nina”? Yes, briefly and sweetly, like a single sugar cube dissolving on the tongue.
