Behind the heavy oak door of a wood-paneled library, a sharp crack of Sicilian bergamot cuts through the cool, still air, quickly tangling with the resinous, green bite of galbanum and the tart, inky juice of black currant. As the scent settles into the room, a dense, humid heart of dark patchouli and Bulgarian rose pushes forward, wrapped tightly around the creamy, heady weight of Indian tuberose and Spanish jasmine. The champaca and lavender add a faint, powdery lift, but the air here stays thick, pulled steadily downward by a massive, unapologetic base where oud and Indian oud take immediate hold. Castoreum and civet drag across the dry, earthy scratch of oakmoss and Russian leather, while orris and ambergris smooth the edges just enough to keep the sharpest points from tearing the skin. Tonka bean, cacao, and Madagascar vanilla wait in the background, completely overshadowed by the smoky, dry resin of frankincense, Spanish labdanum, and pine. This is a heavy, animalic chypre: a dense, aromatic fog of citrus, woody smoke, and musky amber that sits so deeply in the air it feels carved into the furniture, a heavy, unshakable weight pressing into the room like a heavy wool coat dropped onto a leather chair in the center of the floor.
