Our take

There is a kind of perfume that does not whisper or negotiate, and this is one. Carolina Herrera opens with a startling hit of apricot and orange blossom, but that fruity sweetness is immediately cut by green notes and the spicy, almost sappy Brazilian rosewood. The bergamot fizzes for a moment and then is swallowed whole by the heart. And what a heart: a dense, creamy white floral pileup of tuberose and jasmine, ylang ylang and narcissus, honeysuckle and hyacinth. It is a garden in full, suffocating bloom, but one with an animal under the porch. The base is where the real character shows itself. Civet and musk push through the flowers like warm breath, while oakmoss and amber give it a dark, powdery weight that lasts and lasts. This fragrance is a velvet chandelier dripping with wax, beautiful and a little oppressive. Its longevity is solid; you will smell it on your coat the next day. Sillage is moderate, not a bomb, but noticeable. It feels rich, natural in its raw ingredients, and decisively mainstream in the old school way, before fresh aquatics took over. This is for someone who wants to smell expensive and slightly dangerous, who loves tuberose and does not flinch at civet. Skip it if you prefer clean laundry or light citrus. Wear it in fall or winter, when the cold air can handle its heat. Evening only, and for moments that call for a dress, not jeans. A spectacular, unapologetic animalic floral that does not care if you find it too much. 🖤
