Blood orange and bitter orange open Orange Sanguine like fresh juice with the pith still attached, sweet up front and bitter right behind it, and blood mandarin adds a third layer of citrus that rounds out the opening nicely. African geranium brings a green, slightly rosy lift once the fruit calms down, and Madagascar pepper adds a small spark of heat through the middle.
Egyptian jasmine threads through as well, quiet underneath the citrus, not showy, before sandalwood, amber, tonka bean and Texas cedar bring the base down into a warm, softly woody register. Ralf Schwieger composed this for Atelier Cologne's citrus line, and the fruit stays honest here instead of drowning under added sweetness the way some orange scents do.
Wear time lands in the average range, present but never assertive through a good part of the day, and what trail there is stays personal, felt mainly by the wearer and rarely by anyone standing across the table. It's an easy fit for hot weather or a bright office, less convincing after dark when something with more weight feels more fitting.
