Our take

Bois Sikar opens with a crackle of nutmeg and precious woods, sharp and dry like the first strike of a match. Then it softens into something more resinous. Styrax and guaiac wood wrap the cedar leaves in a smoky sweetness, and the tobacco leaf comes forward not as a sticky pouch but as a clean, almost brittle leaf, with Java vetiver grounding everything in an earth that refuses to turn muddy. The overall character is that of a leather-bound journal stored near a woodstove, the pages absorbing the warmth and the faint incense from a forgotten burner. It feels natural, leaning into amber and aromatic accords without ever becoming syrupy or cloying. The sweetness is there but held in check by the woody spine.

For all its polish, Bois Sikar stays close. With a sillage just over 3.2, it is an intimate fragrance, a whisper rather than a proclamation. Longevity is decent for a workday but nothing to boast about. You will get four to six hours before it retreats to a skin scent. This is not a fragrance for summer afternoons or crowded parties. It belongs to cold nights, to wool coats and leather armchairs, to the quiet after dinner when you are reading alone or sharing a whisky with one other person. Skip it if you want to be noticed from across the room. Wear it if you want to be discovered.
