Far Away Rebel
Fragrance notes
Character
Far Away Rebel storms in like a dessert that has no manners, all sticky red fruit compote and aerosol whipped cream piled high. The opening is a bright, almost brash burst of black currant and dried plum, sweet and tart, backed by a synthetic cream note that feels like it came from a can. You can practically hear the fizz. Quickly, it settles into a soft vanilla custard center, with orange blossom and jasmine sambac adding a powdery, slightly syrupy floral lift. The heart is the most pleasant part, a cozy vanilla hug before the base turns toward chocolate and caramel, salted just enough to keep it from cloying, with a whisper of patchouli giving it a muddy anchor. This is a fragrance built for the drugstore aisle rebellion, the kind that smells like a teenage girl raiding the candy cabinet and spritzing herself with her first grown up perfume. It is sweet, yes, and undeniably synthetic, but not in a cheap way. More like a spun sugar sculpture under fluorescent lights, pretty for a moment. The problem is that moment passes quickly. Longevity barely scratches three hours, and sillage is a close whisper within an arm’s length. You will need to reapply liberally, which suits the price point. Wear it on a crisp autumn afternoon when you want to smell like a brownie topped with vanilla frosting, or on a lazy winter evening curled up in bed. Skip it if you need projection that fills a room or if realistic fruit and floral notes matter to you. This is a guilty pleasure, a fleeting sugar high, and it knows exactly what it is.
