Our take

Trussardi’s Uomo The Red opens with a cognac-soaked fistful of nutmeg and citron, the galbanum adding a green, almost resinous snap that keeps the citrus from wandering into cheap cologne territory. Aurelien Guichard’s construction pivots quickly into a heart of geranium and clary sage, with violet leaf lending a cool, powdery edge that tempers the leather and patchouli in the base. The tonka bean eventually mellows things into a warm, slightly vanilla-sweet drydown, but the leather stays present like a well-worn jacket lining. The overall character is a gentleman who spills a little spiced brandy on his suede gloves and simply shrugs. It feels polished, not synthetic, but sits firmly in the mainstream aromatic fougere lane, which is why the sillage and longevity hover around a modest 3 star. This is not a beast: you’ll catch a whiff on yourself for a few hours, then it fades to a close skin scent. Perfect for a crisp fall evening or a winter dinner out, but skip it if you want to announce yourself from across a room. For the rest of us, it’s a quietly confident choice, best worn when you’re dressing up just enough to feel a little dangerous.
