That citrusy greenness hangs on for maybe ten minutes before galbanum and basil push through, dragging the composition toward a damp, shadowy forest floor. The heart is where this thing shows its teeth: carnation and rose sit uneasily beside a leather note that smells less like a new jacket and more like the inside of an old glove box, with civet adding a hair of barnyard funk. As it dries down, vanilla and tonka bean soften the edges, but opoponax and incense keep the base resinous and slightly liturgical. The overall character is that of a mahogany desk that has been sat at for decades, polished with beeswax and marred by cigarette burns.
This is not a friendly fragrance. It is heavy, earthy, and unapologetically synthetic in the way eighties powerhouses often are, though the oakmoss and vetiver give it an anchored, almost natural weight. Longevity sits around six hours, and sillage is moderate, staying close after the first hour. It suits a man in his fifties or older, someone who wears a suit on a Tuesday and doesn’t need validation from the room. Skip it if you prefer fresh citrus or clean laundry scents, because this one smells like a decision made before you were born. Wear it to a fall funeral, a winter board meeting, or a rainy evening when you want to feel like the last person standing.
