Gülbahar The Rose Spring opens with a sharp bite that may feel abrasive to those who prefer soft, airy florals. The black pepper and pink pepper hit first, prickly and loud, while saffron adds a metallic heat that lingers through the transition. It is not a gentle introduction, and the spices do not temper themselves for the sake of balance.
The heart brings rose and lavender into the mix, but the flower here is not dewy or sweet. Hollyhock adds a dry, slightly powdery texture that pushes the lavender toward an herbal, almost medicinal edge. Sandalwood and tonka bean in the base soften the profile only slightly, wrapping the spices in a warm, resinous blanket that feels thick rather than smooth.
Amber and oud anchor the final stretch, giving the fragrance a heavy, woody presence that sits close to the skin in feeling rather than in reach. The blend leans more aromatic than fresh, with the spices continuing to pulse beneath the florals long after the opening fades into the deeper, resin-heavy woods
