Our take

Osang opens with a sticky, golden hit of honey and Sichuan pepper, a strangely addictive contrast that feels both liturgical and carnal. The honey is not the clean, floral kind but a dark, fermented one, tangled with fenugreek and wildflowers that veer into a dusty, hay-like sweetness. As it develops, the resins take over. Myrrh, benzoin, and labdanum pile on in a warm, balsamic haze, while the iris adds a faint, powdery flicker of restraint. The drydown settles into a plush amber-oud base, the sandalwood and Peru balsam softening the edges of a smoky styrax. The overall character is like a medieval apothecary bottle left open in a sunlit chapel, the air thick with wax, incense dust, and the faint stain of honey on stone. It is unabashedly sweet and heavy, leaning natural in its resinous core but with a slightly synthetic sheen on the pepper that keeps it from being truly ancient. The longevity is decent, hovering around six to seven hours, and the sillage sits close, a warm cloud rather than a proclamation. This is for someone who wants to smell rich and contemplative, not for those who flinch at sticky sweetness or prefer crisp, airy scents. Wear it in the deep chill of winter or the melancholic twilight of autumn, ideally with a wool coat and nowhere to rush.
