Our take

Id opens like a spice merchant’s glove box has been flipped open in your face. Nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves strike first, sharp and hot, with ravensara adding a camphorous, almost medicinal edge. The heart is where the paradox lives. A powdery iris and violet bloom across a dry, woody oud foundation, creating a clash between tender florals and a leathery, almost bitter birch. The dry down softens into a warm amber and patchouli haze, but the ambroxan keeps it from feeling too cozy. This is not a gentle fragrance. It feels like a dark, polished chest of drawers filled with cinnamon sticks and old letters, dusted with violet powder.

Weaknesses are clear from the numbers. Longevity and sillage both sit in the modest range, which is a shame given how striking the opening is. You get the full story for a few hours, then it retreats to a skin scent. That makes it an intimate wear, perfect for a crisp autumn evening or a winter dinner party where you want to be discovered rather than announced. Who is it for? The person who loves a spicy, woody oriental but craves a powdery, almost vintage counterpoint. It is niche through and through, complex and slightly cold. Skip it if you want beast mode projection or a sweet gourmand. This one asks you to lean in.
