Someone walks into a dim lounge wearing a heavy coat and leaves a trail of resin and fruit behind them before they even reach the bar. Diwan is built for that entrance. The opening hits with oud and incense straight away, curling around bright raspberry, plum, and grapefruit that keep the smoke from feeling dry. Pink pepper and cardamom add a sharp edge to the green leaves and aldehydes, so the first minutes feel like a crowded room where something sweet is burning in the corner.
The heart pulls the fragrance toward Taif rose and amber, with coffee and honey thickening the air. Geranium and rhubarb cut through the richness, while carnation and iris lend a powdery softness that stops the sweetness from becoming flat. Chamomile sits quietly underneath, letting the rose lead without turning the blend into a standard floral. Every note feels placed to deepen the warmth rather than lighten it, so the middle stage carries a heavy, golden weight.
Base notes of Indian oud, leather, and frankincense take over with castoreum and myrrh adding an animalic touch that grounds the earlier fruit. Gurjan balsam and guaiac wood sit beside sandalwood and cedar, while patchouli, vanilla, and tonka bean smooth the edges of the resins and musk.
