Our take

Anti Malocchio opens with a sharp, briny slap of red chili and salt that cuts through the air like a sea breeze laced with pepper dust. Basil and star anise add an herbal, slightly licorice-like freshness, while almond gives a dry, nutty warmth beneath the surface. Within minutes, the heart takes an unexpected turn: immortelle and spun sugar meet sea notes and cypress, creating a curious blend of briny sweetness and resinous green wood. It smells like a coastal boardwalk where a candy stall sits beside driftwood and damp moss. The drydown settles into a familiar woody base of oakmoss, vetiver, sandalwood, and patchouli, with amber smoothing the edges into a soft, almost dusty warmth.

This is not a loud fragrance. With longevity just above average and sillage that stays close, Anti Malocchio feels intimate and deliberate. It leans synthetic in the opening, but the heart and base develop more natural character, especially the salty marine accord. Who does it suit? Someone who enjoys quirky contrasts and doesn’t need to announce their presence from across the room. Skip it if you want projection or a straightforward gourmand, the spun sugar is too quickly swallowed by vetiver and oakmoss.

Wear it on a cool spring afternoon or a mild fall evening, preferably when you’ll be in close company. It’s a daytime scent through and through, a little too strange and reserved for a night out. Does it really ward off the evil eye? Maybe not, but it will make you smell like a walk along a salty, herb-dusted cliffside just after the fog lifts.
