Our take

Fabulous Bukhara opens with dried fruits that feel heavy and candied. The note is straightforward and does not evolve much as the first stage settles. It moves quickly into a heart where honey and rose sit together, with fern adding a green, slightly bitter edge that keeps the sweetness from becoming flat. The honey here is thick and dark rather than bright or airy. Rose provides a soft floral layer that stays in the background while the honey leads. The fern is subtle and does not push the fragrance toward freshness. This stage is warm and dense, leaning fully into the sweet and spicy character that defines the composition.

The drydown carries the honey forward alongside ebony, benzoin, and tonka bean. Ebony adds a dry, woody depth that grounds the sugar. Benzoin brings a resinous warmth that blends with the tonka bean to create a smooth, vanilla-adjacent base. The amber accord sits quietly in this mix, reinforcing the heat without introducing new shapes. The fragrance stays sweet throughout and does not shift toward dryness or clarity. It remains heavy on the skin and can feel overwhelming if applied with a generous hand. The density is its main limitation, as the richness leaves little room for nuance once the base is fully present.
