Our take

Bergamot, lemon and mandarin orange crowd the opening of Un Jardin en Méditerranée, sour and green rather than sweet. Lemon sharpens that citrus trio further, and by the time orange blossom and white nerium oleander take hold, the whole thing has moved from tart to something rounder and more floral. The sillage sits as a quiet, close-in cloud, staying moderate in how long it holds on skin.

Fig leaf carries most of the character in the base, green and slightly bitter, backed by cypress, red cedar and juniper for structure. Juniper and red cedar add a resinous, gin-like edge to the base, balancing the greener fig leaf with something drier. Pistachio adds an odd, nutty warmth low down, and musk keeps everything soft at the very end, smoothing over the sharper cypress and cedar. Spring and summer are its only real seasons, and it suits daytime wear especially well, worn to an outdoor lunch or a slow walk through a garden. The whole thing behaves more like a mood than a fully rendered floral statement, sketched more than filled in.
