Our take

Aesop’s Tacit opens with a brisk slap of yuzu and citrus, sharp and translucent as morning light through a wet basil leaf. That herbal heart quickly takes center stage, green and peppery, before the base settles into a dry, earthy vetiver dusted with cloves. The overall effect is that of a freshly cut herb garden after a brief rain shower. It feels natural and niche in the sense that it never panders, yet it remains wearable enough for daily life. There is no sweetness, no amber cushion. This is a fragrance that stands on its own two feet.

The problem, and it is a real one, is how quickly those feet shuffle offstage. With longevity barely scraping two and a half hours and sillage just shy of a whisper, Tacit is less a statement and more a fleeting impression. It’s a sharp green leaf that wilts before you can show it to anyone. Who should wear it? Those who value clarity over volume and who work in close quarters where a loud scent would be rude. Skip it if you want a fragrance to last through dinner, or if you expect a purchase at this price point to deliver projection. Daytime, spring and summer, in a studio, a café, a walk through the market. It is a beautiful, polite ghost of a scent.
