The heart is uncompromisingly leathery, but not the clean, new-car kind. This is a worn saddle, creased and stained, with juniper adding a resinous, almost medicinal tang that keeps it from feeling too cozy. As it dries down, castoreum and opoponax emerge, and the whole thing settles into a smoky, animalic amber that clings close to the skin. The overall character is that of a weathered leather journal filled with pressed herbs, left open in a cabin where woodsmoke lingers in the rafters. It feels natural, almost raw, but refined enough to avoid being a novelty. The sillage is moderate, hovering at arm’s length, and longevity is solid, not a beast but reliable through a long evening.
