Afnan’s 9am opens with a bright citrus spritz that feels more functional than joyful, lemon and mandarin orange fused with cardamom’s dusty warmth and a pink pepper prickle. That initial zing suggests optimism, but the heart quickly zigzags toward something more muddled. Lavender and orange blossom try to pull fresh and floral, while green apple injects a candied tartness that clashes with the soapy rose hiding underneath. It’s like a fruit bowl dropped onto a barbershop counter. The dry down settles into a polite, powdery musk with mossy cedar and a faint, earthy patchouli, but the whole composition stays closer to synthetic brightness than any living garden.
This is a mainstream crowd-pleaser with designer aspirations but a budget execution. The longevity of about three hours and whisper-thin sillage mean it will evaporate long before you finish breakfast, making it a short-lived mood enhancer rather than a statement.
