Our take

Highness VI opens with a bright, almost brash slap of nutmeg and spices, the ambergris adding a salty, mineralized warmth that stops it from turning into a holiday potpourri. That sharpness quickly softens as lavender and black currant step in, the fruit lending a jammy, almost sour sweetness that cuts through the patchouli’s earthy grit. On the dry down, amber and musk take over, wrapping the whole thing in a powdery, oakmoss-tinged blanket that feels like an old library after a rainstorm, the leather chairs still holding the ghost of someone’s cologne.

The overall character is a finely made tweed jacket with a secret lining of crushed blackberries, elegant but with a sticky, animalic undercurrent that keeps it from being boring. It leans synthetic in that polished, mainstream way, not at all niche, but the execution is solid and the longevity is excellent, easily seven or eight hours. The sillage is moderate, a polite arm’s-length bloom rather than a room-filling announcement, which feels right for this scent’s temperament.

This is for the guy who wants to smell put-together at a spring garden party or a fall dinner without screaming for attention, someone who appreciates a bit of powdery sweetness without tipping into gourmand territory. Skip it if you hate lavender or if you demand nuclear projection, because it stays close and polite after the first hour. Wear it for a daytime date or a sophisticated night out, anytime the vibe is “sharp but not loud.”
