Linfedele 1003
Fragrance notes
Character
Linfedele 1003 opens with a sharp blend of leather and orange. The citrus is bright but quickly overtaken by bay leaf and pine, which bring a resinous, forest-like edge to the start. This is not a clean or polished introduction. It feels rugged and slightly abrasive, pushing the leather forward while the green elements keep the sharpness from softening too soon.
Jasmine and galbanum enter next, adding a bitter green tone that cuts through the initial heaviness. Amyris and holly provide a dry woodiness, while incense begins to build a bridge toward the base. The smoke from the heart is noticeable, and the floral aspect stays in the background, serving only to lift the denser resins rather than acting as a traditional floral heart.
The foundation rests on myrrh and styrax, which create a thick, balsamic warmth. Juniper adds a slight prickliness, and tobacco lends a deep, sweet dryness. The combination results in a heavy, animalic atmosphere that suits a quiet street at night or a room lit only by a fireplace. The air feels saturated with resin and wood, creating a mood that is intimate and enclosed.
The composition struggles with balance. The transition from the bright top to the heavy base feels abrupt, and the jasmine sometimes clashes with the pine instead of blending into it. The tobacco and myrrh can become overwhelming, making the overall structure feel crowded rather than layered.
