Our take

Eva Kant opens with a brisk slap of lavender and grapefruit, the citrus sharpened by an odd woody note that feels less like cedar and more like antique furniture dusted with resin. This is not a polite entrance. The heart soon thickens: myrrh’s bitter smoke winds around ginger’s warmth, while ylang-ylang and magnolia lend a fleshy, almost bruised floral sweetness. Sandalwood creeps in to ground it, but the cardamom and chamomile in the base keep things from turning syrupy — the vanilla and benzoin are present but held in check, like a gambler who knows when to fold.

The overall impression is that of a telephone booth in a noir film, the receiver still warm, a smear of lipstick on the glass. It leans niche in its refusal to be pretty, blending natural resinous elements with a faintly synthetic amber sheen. With longevity and sillage hovering just above average, it stays close to the skin after a few hours — admirable for intimate settings, disappointing if you want a room-filler.

This suits someone who dresses with deliberate contradictions: a velvet blazer over ripped jeans, or a leather jacket worn with pearls. Skip it if you crave gourmand clarity or loud projection. Wear it on a cool spring evening, or in autumn when the air carries the first bite of woodsmoke. It never fully relaxes, and that’s exactly the point.
