Our take

In Love Again opens with a cheeky slap of vodka-drenched grapefruit and cassia, a blueberry fizz that feels less like fruit salad and more like a smashed cocktail on a sunlit terrace. The heart lets rose and water lily float through the sour-sweet haze, but the real surprise waits in the base: tomato leaf turning tart and green under blackberry musk, a savory undercut that keeps this from drowning in syrup. It paints a very specific image a woman laughing in a white sundress, wiping juice from her chin with the back of her hand, utterly unbothered. The fragrance stays close to the skin, barely murmuring past an arm’s length, and fades within a few hours that modest longevity and sillage are its honest weakness. But what it lacks in projection, it makes up for in personality. This is Jean-Claude Ellena at his most playful, blending fresh, soft spice and a woody sandalwood anchor into something that never feels synthetic or cloying. It belongs to spring and summer days, preferably hot ones where a heavy perfume would suffocate. Who should wear it? Anyone who wants a fruity floral with a green backbone and zero ambition to fill a room. Who should skip it? Those who equate power with presence a whisper can have more bite than a shout, but not everyone has the patience to lean in.
