Kouros starts with a jolt: aldehydes and artemisia up top read sharp and distinctly aldehydic, with none of the soft citrus cushioning found in a lot of modern aromatics. Layer in civet in the base and this becomes a genuinely divisive fragrance, animalic in a way most releases since 1981 have quietly moved away from. If sharp, retro and a little dirty isn't what you want from a fragrance, this is not the one to reach for.
Coriander, clary sage and lavender build a green, herbal heart around a strong dose of patchouli and carnation, spicy and slightly powdery at once, while orris root smooths some of the roughness. Honey and leather deepen the base further, and oakmoss and amber give it real weight, a dry, earthy floor for everything above it to stand on. Pierre Bourdon built it to be hard to shift once it's on skin, and the sillage announces itself rather than waiting to be noticed. Winter after dark is where it still has the most presence, sharp, animalic and entirely unbothered by modern trends, closer to a leather jacket than anything meant to be worn quietly.
