Our take

Manifesto opens sharp and a little sour, black currant and green notes doing most of the work before bergamot adds a citrus lift. Bergamot adds a citrus edge that fights briefly with the black currant's sourness before jasmine and lily-of-the-valley calm the whole opening down. The sillage stays compact and close-woven, and staying power wears far longer than the sharp opening suggests.

Vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood and cedar take over by the base, and the whole composition ends up warm, sweet and a little powdery, a long way from where it started. Tonka bean in particular pulls double duty here, adding both a sweet vanilla-adjacent warmth and a faint hay-like dryness underneath everything else.

Fall and winter suit its warmth best, and it works especially well after dark. It is not a subtle transformation, and that abruptness is part of what makes Manifesto worth paying attention to a second time. The gap between that sharp green opening and the warm vanilla finish is what makes it worth following from the first spray onward, two distinct moods held in one bottle.
