Our take

Nu Eau de Toilette opens like a struck match in a spice market, cardamom and bergamot meeting neroli’s bitter citrus before the whole thing softens into a powdery, white floral heart. Jasmine and orchid feel almost sueded by iris, while the base of incense, musk, and vanilla pulls everything into a warm, smoky embrace that sits close to the skin. It’s a scent that wears like cashmere left near a censer: plush, slightly hazy, with a persistent whisper of ash and vanilla pod.

Jacques Cavallier Belletrud crafted this as an oriental floral for women, but the pronounced incense and powdery iris read beautifully on anyone who appreciates depth over projection. The numbers tell the truth here: longevity and sillage hover just above average, so don’t expect a bomb. It blooms best in fall and winter, when cool air lets the spices and smoke settle without turning cloying. Day or night, it leans toward the latter, a quiet companion for dinner or a long walk in November drizzle.

That said, if you crave beast mode performance or sharp, sparkling freshness, Nu will feel too polite. Its charm is in the way it lingers like a memory, not a shout. Who else makes an incense fragrance that still feels tender, almost blush-worthy? That’s the trick here.
