Alberto Morillas bypasses the usual barnyard theatrics and delivers a rose oud that behaves like a gentleman who knows when to speak and when to listen. The opening strikes with a blush of Bulgarian rose and Rose de Mai, sharpened by pink pepper, a floral greeting that refuses to fade into the background. Quickly, Laotian oud emerges, not as a smoky intruder but as a polished leather armchair, upholstered in saffron and ylang-ylang. The dry down settles into papyrus, labdanum, and Bourbon vanilla, turning creamy without tipping into dessert territory. This is a scent that feels like a single dried rose petal pressed inside a well-worn journal, intimate and slightly dusty.
The composition leans niche in its restraint, yet maintains a plush, natural smoothness that keeps it from feeling aloof. It is sweet in a warm, resinous way, never syrupy, and the animalic undertone is more a whisper than a growl.
