Our take

Fever starts with plum and litchi, a jammy, slightly boozy fruit, and grapefruit cuts across it with a quick, bitter citrus snap before the sweetness can take over completely. There is real tartness in that opening stretch, more grapefruit pith than syrup. Its staying power lands in the middle, present without fading in a hurry, and the trail is modest, close enough that only people nearby will catch the coffee note later on.

The heart brings heliotrope and vanilla orchid together with jasmine and orange blossom, a soft, powdery white floral that never gets sharp, heliotrope in particular giving it a faintly almond, marzipan-like edge. By the base, coffee and hazelnut turn it into something closer to a warm dessert, propped up by tonka, benzoin and sandalwood, with the hazelnut lending a toasted, nutty warmth alongside the coffee's bitterness.

This belongs to fall and winter nights, when the coffee and vanilla warmth feels most at home. The citrus opening keeps a thread of sharpness running through the sweetness from start to finish, giving the coffee and vanilla base something to push against instead of settling into pure sugar.
