Vanilla up top is an unusual choice, more often a base note elsewhere, and it gives the whole opening a soft, edible warmth before lavender arrives to sharpen things considerably. That reversal, sweet before sharp instead of the usual order, is what makes the first few minutes memorable. The push between sweet vanilla and aromatic lavender is really the entire story here, two notes pulling in different directions without either one winning outright.
Vetiver anchors the base, earthy and a touch bitter, grounding the vanilla so it never turns into something purely dessert-like. Antoine Maisondieu and Guillaume Flavigny built the whole structure around just three notes, and the restraint pays off, nothing here feels unfinished, just deliberately spare. Nothing else crowds in to complicate the picture, which makes every shift in balance between the two easy to track as it happens.
It wears with solid persistence on skin, and the sillage stays modest but present, easy to catch on the wearer without carrying far. Fall and winter flatter it most, with night suiting the vanilla-lavender combination better than bright daylight does. Powdery texture runs through the whole thing from top to bottom, softening what could otherwise come across as a fairly severe aromatic fragrance.
